BEFORE YOU UPDATE
GETTING THE UPDATER There are a few ways to get the free 24.1 update:
**. **. **. **. **. ** ** ** ** **. **. **. **. ** **. **. **. **. **. **. ** ** ** ** **. **. **. **. ** **. Below is a news release from last November, from MacKiev President, Jack Minsky. This will be primarily a maintenance/bug fixing update for the current FTM 2019 program. It does, however have several significant new functions for FTM2019. Its release date is unknown. I suspect that the hard copy FTM Companion Guide in book form will begin to be mailed out when the below described ver 24.1 is released. Jack Minsky November 27, 2020 (OLD) JUST AROUND THE CORNER – TreeVault CollaborationHow'd you like to see your tree start filling up with hints that aren't just a computer's best guess about possible relatives, but notes sent to you from actual relatives with first hand information about your tree. That's the idea behind TreeVault Collaboration with Sticky Note relative hints that's coming very soon in version 24.1 of FTM 2019. You'll just invite your relatives to download a FREE copy of Family Tree Maker's mobile Connect app (for iOS or Android) and then send notes to your tree with TreeVault guest accounts. Easy as that. UPDATED FOR FTM VERSION 24.1 – Companion GuideOn-screen help is nice, but to get the most out of the upcoming free 24.1 update of FTM 2019, there's nothing more civilized than a printed user guide you can hold in your hands and browse through over a cup of tea. That's why, just a few days from now, we'll start the presses running in Boston, London and Sydney, for an updated version of the FTM 2019 Companion Guide. (If you already have a copy on order, see below). We're printing on archival quality paper in a large print format and in full living color – on every one of the more than 300 pages. Pre-order now before production starts to get your copy for just $24 (40% off the regular price of $40). ALREADY ORDERED? If yes, your order for the FTM 2019 Companion Guide has been updated to version 24.1 automatically. AND you'll be getting a gift certificate worth at least 25% of what you paid as a thank you for waiting so long. Details will be sent by email. TIP: MAKE WAY FEWER BACKUPS – Using TreeVault and Turn Back TimeMost of us are, well, kind of religious about backups – as we should be. But if you're still making a bunch of backups every day with FTM 2019 it's time to cut way back – assuming you're using your free trial subscription of TreeVault. That's because TreeVault keeps an up to the minute copy of your main tree tucked safely away in the cloud. If catastrophe strikes, TreeVault's Emergency Tree®restore service hands you back a full copy of your tree. And (spoiler alert) with the upcoming free 24.1 update, that can include your media too. But what if you accidentally deleted Uncle Harry's entire branch of the tree a few hours before your hard drive crashed? No worries. The Turn Back Time feature built into FTM 2019 keeps track of your last THOUSAND changes. And – genius – TreeVault keeps a copy of your Turn Back Time log. So for all practical purposes, without lifting a finger, you're keeping the equivalent of a thousand backups. And THAT means you'll be able to roll back your restored tree to just before you lopped off Uncle Harry's branch. You're welcome! NOW FOR MAC TOO – Charting Companion 7. Attention all Mac users! The biggest leap forward in DNA research for Family Tree Maker users now comes in both Mac and Windows editions. Once you have your DNA match results from an AncestryDNA test kit, Charting Companion 7 shows you how DNA ties the members of your family together and how to set priorities for DNA leads to follow. The built−in DNA Matches feature helps group potential cousins into branches of the family, and the DNA Matrix chart will show a snapshot of your DNA legacy at a glance. Charting Companion 7 also provides more than a dozen charts not found in Family Tree Maker and extends color coding into your charts. The new Mac edition works only with FTM 2019, and for a limited time, it's on sale for just $29.95 (25% off the regular price of $40). |
